Protestaufruf gegen Verhaftung iranischer Arbeiteraktivisten

Zamaaneh, 21. Januar 2012 – Die Menschenrechtsinitiative „Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders“ hat zu Protesten gegen die jüngsten Verhaftungen von Arbeiteraktivisten in Iran aufgerufen und ihre sofortige und bedingungslose Freilassung gefordert.

Die Organisation schreibt, sie sei von der iranischen Liga für den Schutz der Menschenrechte (LDDHI) sie auf die Verfolgung der Gewerkschaftsaktivisten hingewiesen worden. Sie listet die Namen von 13 Arbeiteraktivsten auf, die zumeist in den letzten Monaten verhaftet wurden, darunter Sheys Amani, Gründungsmitglied der Freien Gewerkschaft Iranischer Arbeiter (Verhaftung am 17. Januar), Sharif Saeed-Panah, Vorstandsmitglied der Freien Gewerkschaft Iranischer Arbeiter (Verhaftung am 8. Januar) und Maysam Nejati-Aref, Gewerkschaftsmitglied im Teheraner SAIPA-Autowerk (Verhaftung am 3. Januar).

Zudem wird in der Verlautbarung Sorge angesichts der anhaltenden Inhaftierung und des Gesundheitszustandes von Reza Shahabi, dem Vorstandsmitglied und Schatzmeister von Sherkat-e Vahed, geäußert. Shahabi war im November letzten Jahres in einen Hungerstreik getreten und am 13. November ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert worden. Sein Fall liegt seit mehr als 18 Monaten bei der iranischen Justiz, seine Situation ist ungeklärt. Er selbst befindet sich seit mehr als 18 Monaten in Haft, ohne dass eine Kaution festgesetzt wurde.

Die Organisation fordert die iranische Regierung auf, die Verfolgung dieser Aktivisten zu beenden und ruft die iranische Justiz auf, Schikanen gegen Gefangene zu unterlassen.

Sie erinnert die Islamische Republik an ihre internationalen Menschenrechtsverletzungen und fordert deren Einhaltung.

„Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders“ ist ein gemeinsames Programm der International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) und der World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT).

Actions requested:
Please write to the Iranian authorities and ask them to:

i. Guarantee in all circumstances the physical and psychological integrity of Messrs. Shahrokh Zamani, Mohammad Jarrahi, Nima Pouryaghoub, Sassan Vahebivash, Sheys Amani, Sadiq Karimi, Sharif Sa’ed-Panah, Mozaffar Salehnia, Maysam Nejati-Aref, Ebrahim Madadi, Reza Shahabi, Mohammad Hosseini and Mehdi Farahi Shandiz as well as all human rights defenders and their families in Iran;

ii. Release Messrs. Shahrokh Zamani, Sheys Amani, Maysam Nejati-Aref, Ebrahim Madadi, Reza Shahabi, Mohammad Hosseini and Mehdi Farahi Shandiz immediately and unconditionally as their detention is arbitrary since it only aims at sanctioning their human rights activities;

iii. Put an end to any kind of harassment – including at the judicial level – against Messrs. Shahrokh Zamani, Mohammad Jarrahi, Nima Pouryaghoub, Sassan Vahebivash, Sheys Amani, Sadiq Karimi, Sharif Sa’ed-Panah, Mozaffar Salehnia, Maysam Nejati-Aref, Ebrahim Madadi, Reza Shahabi, Mohammad Hosseini and Mehdi Farahi Shandiz and more generally against all human rights defenders in Iran.

iv. Conform in any circumstances with the provisions of the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders, adopted on December 9, 1998 by the United Nations General Assembly, in particular:

 its article 1, which states that “everyone has the right, individually or in association with others, to promote the protection and realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms at the national and international levels”;

 its article 5.b, which states that “everyone has the right, individually and in association with others, at the national and international levels, (…) to form, join and participate in non-governmental organizations, associations or groups”;

 its article 12.2 which provides that “the State shall take all necessary measures to ensure the protection by the competent authorities of everyone, individually and in association with others, against any violence, threats, retaliation, de facto or de jure adverse discrimination, pressure or any other arbitrary action as a consequence of his or her legitimate exercise of the rights referred to in the present Declaration”;

v. Ensure in all circumstances respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in accordance with international human rights standards and international instruments ratified by Iran.
